A lovely fellow has now gone AWOL (Absent without leave)

I am sure we all know Darrin Atkins, who is a lovely fellow writer here on Medium. I just observed that he has not posted for a while. In fact since 1st March 2021, so I sent him a private message, which he has not responded to. Previously, Darrin writes up to five stories a day, most are in form of Poems or Satire.

I love Darrin because he is the sort of guy who has his own style on Medium. He does not post on any Publication, and sometimes highlights and comments on his own stories, which I always find amusing. Yet he supports a lot of us, he has over 11,000 followers.

Darrin’s profile is amusing too, he introduces himself as:

Writer and novelist. traveler and adventurer. looking for fun in the sun. chasing the dream. can’t stop the feeling that time is going faster.

I first observed that Darrin was not posting as many stories as before, so I assumed he was probably working. Now the stories have stopped, which I hope is only temporary.

The Importance of An Email In your Profile

I once told a fellow writer here the importance of an email where fellow writers can get in touch with us, should there be a concern. The fellow took it personally and got offended. ‘’There is a private message’’, he said, ‘’what do you need my email for?’’. There was no point discussing with him further. If a writer got blocked by Medium, private messages are useless. We have seen it before, and it happens more than we can imagine.

I know this because a friend I met here on Medium, has her account blocked. I searched elsewhere (online) for her to continue the friendship, to no avail. Hence I know the importance of keeping friendship out of anothers’ platforms. You never know when something will happen, and pronto, you lose that connection.

Medium is like no other writers’ platform. This is because we can interact and develop a life-long friendship, that can boost our mental health. I have some invitations from writers here to drop in, should I visit their countries, which I find pleasant, and wanting me to go and visit the place, and relish their hospitality. Medium is also a serious-minded platform for writers to develop their skill, and there is support all the way, especially from the top editors of Illumination, and of course, Dr Mehmet Yildiz.

So, Darrin, we miss you here on Medium and very much hope you will join us soon so that the fun and adventure can continue.
